PE and Sports Premium
Following the success of The London 2012 Olympic Games, the Government is determined to ensure a lasting legacy from ‘The Games’. Developing an enjoyment of sport and physical activity, together with promoting active healthy lifestyles in children, are aspects of this. To this effect, the Government is providing additional funding for the academic years 2023 – 2024 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The money is provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
"Congratulations to Coppice Primary Academy on Your Platinum School Games Mark Award!
We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Coppice Primary Academy on achieving the prestigious Platinum School Games Mark award! This is a fantastic accomplishment, highlighting the school’s dedication to promoting and nurturing sport and physical activity.
We were particularly impressed with the strong focus on girls' competitions, and increasing attendance at your extracurricular clubs.
We are also particularly impressed with Coppice’s attention to pupil feedback through the Pupil Voice survey that you shared with us.
A particularly positive change was the introduction of a girls-only football day following feedback about boys dominating the football space.
Your success in increasing girls participation with is noteworthy. Girls participation had historically been an issue however you now have more girls attending extracurricular clubs than boys.
The work between Mr Nuttall and the wider staff team in delivering curriculum PE, as well as the development of a bespoke Coppice PE Scheme of Work, is a testament to your commitment to high-quality physical education.
Once again, congratulations on this well-deserved recognition. Your continued efforts to provide inclusive, high-quality sport and physical education opportunities for all pupils are truly inspiring!"
